Old books, old clothes and old boots - it’s a lesser-known fact that Amitabh Bachchan has meticulously been preserving his belongings over the years. In fact, while shooting for Shaad Ali’s Jhoom Barabar Jhoom the actor insisted that he would wear boots only from his personal collection. The actor walked into the sets of Jhoom… armed with the black leather boots that he had worn as the vigilant police officer in the ’80s flick, Shahenshah.

Needless, to say costume designer Aki Narula was more than happy to have been relieved from the task of picking up footwear for Mr Bachchan. “Yes, I didn’t get any shoes for Mr Bachchan. He got these boots from his own collection,” says Aki.
The story goes that the actor had a specific design in mind while ordering for this pair of knee-length black boots in keeping with his attire in Shahenshah. He is also known to have been very fond of the boots. Unlike the black Shahenshah costume, Mr Bachchan refused to part with the boots when the film wrapped up. In fact, after Shahenshah hit the screens, pristine black boots suddenly came into fashion.
